This is the most important thing to know about the product: the 9F-10 is made for sharpening saw teeth, with a profile that fits between them. It is not suitable for the plain cutting edge of a pair of pruning shears; the diamond-surfaced SD range is the tool for that. The choice is not a matter of preference but of which tool you own.
Which saws can it be used on?
Saws with conventional, non impulse-hardened teeth. One important limitation: impulse-hardened teeth cannot be re-sharpened, because the hardened layer is very thin. On those saws, replacing the blade is the correct answer when the teeth wear. The affected models say so on their product pages, and replacement blades are in the blades and saw blades category.

Using it
Draw the file in one direction only, following the original angle of the tooth, not back and forth. The aim is not to remove material but to restore the edge, so a few firm strokes per tooth are enough. Clean resin off the blade first with the ARS GO-1 blade cleaner.
