ARS EP-721 electric pruning shears
ARS EP-721 electric pruning shears – 40 mm cutting capacity
The flagship
The EP-721 is the most powerful in the series, with a 40 mm cutting capacity. It makes sense where you regularly cut thick branches and hand shears are no longer enough. The cutting capacity is steplessly adjustable, so it does not lose power between thin and thick branches.
Battery and running time
The kit contains two 14.4 V 2.5 Ah lithium-ion batteries. One battery gives roughly 3,500 cuts, so with both you get around 7,000 cuts in a working day. Charging takes 90 to 120 minutes per battery, and the intelligent charger switches between the two automatically. Maximum continuous cutting speed is 30 cuts per minute.
Blade and motor
The blade is triple-ground Japanese steel, which holds its edge, and together with the patented lower blade it keeps cutting resistance to a minimum. The brushless motor needs less maintenance and lasts longer than a conventional brushed design. The cutting capacity is steplessly adjustable, so you can work faster on thinner shoots.
Comparing the three models
Within the electric range the main differences are cutting capacity and battery power. The blade length is 52 mm on all three models.
| Model | Battery | Cutting capacity | Weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| EP-719 | 10.8 V | 25 mm | 920 g |
| EP-720 | 14.4 V | 30 mm | 910 g |
| EP-721 (this product) | 14.4 V | 40 mm | 1005 g |
Maintenance
Keeping the blade clean matters even more on an electric tool than on a hand tool: dried sap increases the load on the motor and shortens running time. That is what the ARS GO-1 blade cleaner is for. If you are looking for a hand tool to go alongside it, the VS series shears carry the KWF Profi quality mark.

Frequently asked questions
How many cuts does one charge give?
Around 3,500 cuts per battery, and since two batteries are supplied, roughly 7,000 cuts in a working day.
How long does charging take?
90 to 120 minutes per battery. The intelligent charger switches between the two automatically, so one can charge while you work with the other.
How thick a branch will the ARS EP-721 cut?
Up to 40 mm in diameter according to the manufacturer. The cutting capacity is steplessly adjustable.
Which of the three models should I choose?
It depends on the branch thickness you regularly cut: up to 25 mm the EP-719, up to 30 mm the EP-720, up to 40 mm the EP-721. Compare them in the table above.
The ARS EP-721 electric pruning shears cut branches up to 40 mm in a single action, with a 14.4 V lithium-ion battery and a brushless motor. One charge gives roughly 3,500 cuts, and two batteries are supplied so work continues uninterrupted. See the range in the electric pruning shears category.
