Electric pruning shears
ARS electric pruning shears – cordless, brushless motor
ARS electric pruning shears cut branches up to 40 mm in a single action, with a lithium-ion battery and a brushless motor. One charge gives roughly 3,500 cuts, and all three models come with two batteries. For hand tools alongside them, see the pruning shears category.
Which model should you choose?
The main differences between the three models are cutting capacity and battery power. The blade length is 52 mm on all three.
| Model | Battery | Cutting capacity | Weight | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| EP-719 | 10.8 V 2.5 Ah | 25 mm | 920 g | Regular garden pruning, vineyards, smaller orchards |
| EP-720 | 14.4 V 2.5 Ah | 30 mm | 910 g | Plantations, grounds maintenance, larger gardens |
| EP-721 | 14.4 V 2.5 Ah | 40 mm | 1005 g | Regular thick branches, professional use |
When is it worth switching to electric?
The decision does not turn on branch thickness but on the number of cuts per day. For a few dozen cuts, hand shears are faster and simpler. From several hundred upwards, an electric tool meaningfully reduces the load on your hand and wrist, which in a plantation, vineyard or on grounds maintenance directly determines how long you can work to a consistent standard.
Battery and running time
Every kit contains two 2.5 Ah lithium-ion batteries. One battery gives roughly 3,500 cuts, so with both you get around 7,000 cuts in a working day. Charging takes 90 to 120 minutes per battery, and the intelligent charger switches between the two automatically, so one can charge while you work with the other. Maximum continuous cutting speed is 30 cuts per minute.
Blade and maintenance
The blade is triple-ground Japanese steel, and together with the patented lower blade it keeps cutting resistance to a minimum. Keeping the blade clean matters even more on an electric tool than on a hand tool: dried sap increases the load on the motor and shortens running time. That is what the ARS GO-1 blade cleaner is for.
Frequently asked questions
How many cuts does one charge give?
Around 3,500 cuts per battery. With two batteries in the kit, that is roughly 7,000 cuts in a working day.
How long does charging take?
90 to 120 minutes per battery. The intelligent charger switches between the two automatically, so work does not stop.
Which model should I choose?
Based on the branch thickness you cut regularly: up to 25 mm the EP-719, up to 30 mm the EP-720, up to 40 mm the EP-721.
Is an electric pruner worth it for a home garden?
For a few dozen cuts, hand shears are simpler and faster. The advantage becomes noticeable from several hundred cuts a day. For a home garden, hand pruning shears are usually enough.
