ARS GR-18L pruning saw – 180 mm curved blade, 70 mm cutting capacity

Folding, pocket-sized

The folding design keeps the blade safely stowed and lets the saw fit in a tool bag or coat pocket. It is most useful where sawing is not the main job, only the occasional branch that has grown too thick for a pair of pruning shears.

Curved blade

The curved blade of the GR-18L bites into the branch on the pull stroke, which helps in a dense canopy or at an awkward angle. The finer 3.5 mm tooth pitch leaves a smoother cut face, an advantage on living wood and ornamental trees. The TURBOCUT tooth pattern uses three-sided, taper-ground teeth. It cuts on the pull stroke, which takes less effort than the push-cutting European saws and gives you better control over the direction of the cut.

Straight or curved blade?

The two models are the same size; the difference is in the blade shape and the tooth pitch.

Related models

The ARS G-17 and GR-17 are built with a shorter 170 mm blade. For larger, fixed-blade saws see the curved pruning saws. As a companion to pruning shears, the 210DX is the most common choice.

Maintenance

The teeth are not impulse-hardened, so they can be sharpened with the ARS 9F-10 file. Resin on the blade comes off with the ARS GO-1 blade cleaner, which directly affects how much force the cut takes.

Frequently asked questions

How thick a branch will the ARS GR-18L cut?

Up to 70 mm in diameter according to the manufacturer.

What is the difference between the G-18L and the GR-18L?

The G-18L has a straight blade, the GR-18L a curved one. A curved blade bites better in living wood, a straight one gives a more even kerf on flat surfaces. See the G-18L product page.

Can this saw be sharpened?

Yes, the teeth are not impulse-hardened, so they can be maintained with the ARS 9F-10 file.

Product Features & Technologies

C

High Carbon Steel

Carbon steel is sharp, wear-resistant and easy to sharpen. It offers great precision and durability, ideal for professional pruning. Regular maintenance greatly extends its lifespan.

H

Hard Chrome Coating

Hard chrome-plated blades offer extra protection against rust and wear. The smooth surface resists plant sap and retains its sharpness for longer. Designed for heavy-duty use.

curved-grinding

Curved-Ground Blade

Curved (or hollow-ground) saw blades are lightweight, razor-sharp and perfect for precision work. This technology reduces resistance and prevents the blade from binding during cutting. The hollow design efficiently clears away sawdust, resulting in a friction-free, smooth and clean cut.

Turbocut Tooth Pattern

Turbocut Tooth Pattern

The Turbocut tooth pattern's aggressive cutting angle enables extremely fast, smooth sawing with minimal effort. A perfect choice for cutting green wood and general pruning tasks, even during extended, heavy-duty use.

Tooth Pitch

Tooth Pitch – 4.0 mm

The 4.0 mm tooth pitch creates a perfect balance between cutting speed and control. Excellent for both medium-thickness hardwood and softwood. This versatile tooth pattern guarantees a smooth, clean cut, making it ideal for professional pruning and heavy-duty use.

Blade Thickness

Blade Thickness – 1.2 mm

The 1.2 mm blade thickness enables stable cutting with minimal resistance and high precision. This size is typically found on shorter-bladed saws, making it an ideal choice for fine, highly precise pruning tasks.

Large Hands

For All Hand Sizes

A universal design that fits all hand sizes excellently. An ideal choice for shared family use or professional work. Perfect weight distribution and a stable grip provide maximum comfort even during long-term, heavy-duty use.
