ARS LP-40 lopper
ARS LP-40 lopper – 50 mm cutting capacity
The largest-capacity ARS lopper
The LP-40 earns its place where the 30 to 38 mm capacity of the LPB series runs out. A 50 mm cutting diameter makes a real difference when restoring a neglected garden, cutting back older fruit trees or in grounds maintenance. The trade-off is 1720 grams, the heaviest lopper in the range.
Forged blade and a stiff frame
The blade is fully forged Japanese steel with a precision-ground cutting edge. The oval-section handles add stiffness, which matters on thick branches: a flexible handle would absorb part of your effort. Twin shock absorbers take the impact as the tool closes, sparing your wrists.
Fluorocarbon coating
The blade carries a fluorocarbon coating that reduces friction during the cut, so less force is needed for the same branch, and stops sap drying onto the steel.
Which lopper should you choose?
It comes down to branch thickness and the reach you need.
| Model | Handle length | Cutting capacity |
|---|---|---|
| LP-40 (this product) | 800 mm | 50 mm |
| LPB-30L | 778 mm | 38 mm |
| LPB-30M | 630 mm | 36 mm |
| LPB-20L | 772 mm | 34 mm |
| LPB-30S | 482 mm | 34 mm |
| LPB-20M | 627 mm | 32 mm |
| LPB-20S | 476 mm | 30 mm |
Maintenance
Resin comes off the blade with the ARS GO-1 blade cleaner, which matters especially on thick branches where residue noticeably increases the effort needed. For sharpening, use the ARS SD-100-BT sharpener.
Why choose the ARS LP-40?

Frequently asked questions
How thick a branch will the ARS LP-40 cut?
Up to 50 mm in diameter according to the manufacturer.
How does the LP-40 differ from the LPB series?
The LP-40 has a larger capacity (50 mm against 30 to 38 mm), a forged blade and a stiffer frame. In exchange it is heavier, at 1720 grams.
What does the KWF Profi quality mark mean?
It is the certification of the German forestry association, awarded to tools that pass strict durability and cutting-performance testing for professional use.
The ARS LP-40 lopper is the most powerful in the range, with an 800 mm handle and a 50 mm cutting capacity. Fully forged Japanese steel blade with a fluorocarbon coating and twin shock absorbers, carrying the KWF Profi quality mark. For thinner branches the LPB series loppers are a more economical choice.
High Carbon Steel
Carbon steel is sharp, wear-resistant and easy to sharpen. It offers great precision and durability, ideal for professional pruning. Regular maintenance greatly extends its lifespan.
Fluorocarbon coating
A special protective layer that creates an extremely smooth surface, reducing friction and the adhesion of plant sap. The blade glides through woody stems more easily, requires less effort, and stays cleaner. This technology significantly extends the tool's lifespan.
For All Hand Sizes
A universal design that fits all hand sizes excellently. An ideal choice for shared family use or professional work. Perfect weight distribution and a stable grip provide maximum comfort even during long-term, heavy-duty use.
