ARS loppers – leverage for thicker branches
A lopper takes over where the capacity of pruning shears runs out: the leverage of long handles carries branches between 30 and 50 mm. The range covers seven models by handle length and cutting capacity, all with the KWF Profi mark and a fluorocarbon-coated Japanese steel blade.
Which lopper should you choose?
Handle length
A short handle is best inside a shrub, next to a fence or on a ladder: it fits where a long-handled lopper cannot be turned around. A long handle gives you two things at once, more leverage and greater reach. If you cannot decide, the medium is the most versatile.
LPB-20, LPB-30 or LP-40?
The twenty series is sized for the branch thicknesses typical of a garden and is lighter. The thirty cuts a few millimetres more at every handle length and is more robustly built. The LP-40 is the most powerful in the range at 50 mm, with a fully forged blade, and earns its place when restoring a neglected garden.

Fluorocarbon coating
The high-carbon steel blade carries a fluorocarbon coating. This is not cosmetic: it reduces friction during the cut, so less force is needed for the same branch, and it stops plant sap drying onto the blade. The black finish is the colour of that coating.
Maintenance and parts
The cutting blade, counter blade, rubber bumper and centre bolt are all available separately in the blades and saw blades and component categories, so a worn blade does not mean the end of the tool. Cleaning is handled by the ARS GO-1 blade cleaner.
When the branches get thicker still
Above fifty millimetres, saws are the right tool, and for high branches telescopic pole saws or telescopic loppers.
