ARS telescopic loppers – work at height without a ladder
A pole pruner puts branches up to 20 mm within reach from the ground, without a ladder. Three models are available: one with a fixed 1.8 metre shaft and two telescopic versions extending to 2.01 and 3.01 metres. For thicker branches, UV saws mounted on a telescopic pole are the answer.
Which model should you choose?
The choice depends mainly on the height you need to reach. Bear in mind that a longer shaft also means more weight, which tires you faster when working overhead.

Note: the 180-1.8 is not telescopic
The model name can be misleading: the 180-1.8 has a fixed 1.8 metre aluminium shaft that does not adjust. That has its advantages, with no adjustment point to work loose or seize, and it is the lightest of the three. If you need an adjustable length, choose one of the two ZF models.
Rotating cutting head
The cutting head rotates through 215 or 255 degrees. On a pole tool this is not a convenience extra: branches in a canopy rarely sit at the angle the tool meets them in its default position. Without a rotating head the cut would start at a slant, which means a crushed cut face and harder work.
When you need to cut thicker branches
Above twenty millimetres a pole pruner is no longer enough. UV saws mounted on a telescopic pole cut up to 135 mm and reach 5.6 metres. An integrated alternative is the ARS EXW-2.7. For work at ground level, loppers offer greater capacity.
Maintenance
Keeping the blade clean matters especially on a pole tool, because dried resin means noticeably more effort at arm's length. That is what the ARS GO-1 blade cleaner is for; for sharpening, use the ARS SD-100-BT diamond sharpener.
